News Release!
Jessica Klimkait set out to defend her world championship title on Saturday, October 8 in Tashkent and was attempting to accomplish one of the hardest things to achieve in Judo, back to back World Championship podium finishes. Incredibly, Jessica climbed once again onto the podium with a very impressive bronze, leaving her ranked 2nd in the -57kg world judo rankings.
Jessica battled hard to reach the quarter-finals, where she lost to South Korea’s Mimi Huh but came back to defeat Eteri Liparteliani of Georgia by ippon before winning her bronze medal match against Israeli judoka Timna Nelson Levy.
The Whitby Ontario native who is at the pinnacle of sport is still making time to give back to her sport and is serving on the Judo Ontario High Performance Committee as the Judo Ontario Athlete Representative. Jessica continues to be an inspiration to those who want to follow in her footsteps and reach the podium at the highest level.
Congratulations Jessica for all your success, you have made Judo Ontario Proud once again!
